Ashland Inc. elects Chambers vice-president and controller

Ashland Inc., Covington, Kentucky, announced Wednesday that Lamar M. Chambers has been elected vice-president and controller effective May 1.

HOUSTON, Apr. 16 -- Ashland Inc., Covington, Kentucky, announced Wednesday that Lamar M. Chambers has been elected vice-president and controller effective May 1.

Chambers, who joined the company in 1976, will be responsible for the oversight of accounting policies and practices, external and internal financial reporting, and new accounting standards and developments. He will become a member of Ashland's Operating Committee and will report to J. Marvin Quin, senior vice-president and chief financial officer. Chambers succeeds Kenneth L. Aulen, who is retiring after 24 years of service to the company.

In his most recent position, Chambers served as regional vice-president for Atlanta-based Ashland Paving and Construction, Inc. (APAC) overseeing its Texas operations. He will be succeeded by John A. Walker, regional vice-president for APAC already in charge of operations in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
