Nuevo Energy appoints new chief financial officer

Houston-based independent Nuevo Energy Co. has appointed Michael S. Wilkes as chief financial officer.

HOUSTON, Mar. 5 -- Houston-based independent Nuevo Energy Co. has appointed Michael S. Wilkes as chief financial officer.

Wilkes had been appointed interim chief financial officer effective Dec. 4, 2003.

Last month, rival Plains Exploration & Production Co., also based in Houston, agreed to acquire Nuevo Energy in a stock transaction valued at $945 million (OGJ Online, Feb. 13, 2004).
