LOS ANGELES, Sept. 21 -- Tethys Petroleum Ltd. has appointed Rosemary Johnson-Sabine as vice-president, exploration. Johnson-Sabine joins Tethys from Maersk Oil & Gas.

Johnson-Sabine will work with Graham Wall, Tethys' vice-president, technical, in providing exploration and development support for the company's business in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and other areas of Central Asia.

Earlier this month, Tethys announced completion of its initial five-well, shallow exploration program at the Akkulka exploration contract area in Kazakhstan.

It said three of the five wells drilled tested gas at commercial rates for a total of about 10 MMcfd, while one well, AKK07, has not yet been tested.
