Litjens named Sabic Europe chief executive

Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (Sabic) has appointed Boy Litjens chief executive officer and chairman of Sabic Europe BV, Sittard, The Netherlands, effective Sept. 9.

HOUSTON, July 7 -- Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (Sabic) has appointed Boy Litjens chief executive officer and chairman of Sabic Europe BV, Sittard, The Netherlands, effective Sept. 9. Litjens succeeds Frans Noteborn, who will retire.

Prior to his current appointment, Litjens worked for DSM Petrochemicals in several management and executive positions, including managing director of DSM Resins France and business unit director, polypropylenes. After Sabic acquired DSM's petrochemical business in 2002, Litjens was named chief operating officer of Sabic Europe.

Separately, Abdullah Bazid was named chief operating officer and managing director, chemicals and intermediates. Bazid joined Sabic in 1979 and has played a key role in implementing major petrochemical projects for the company. He was instrumental in Sabic's acquisition of DSM's petrochemical business, which led to the establishment of Sabic Europe.
