WASHINGTON, DC, Sept. 15 -- Alaska state director for the Bureau of Land Management Henri Bisson has been named deputy director of operations at the Department of Interior agency. He succeeds Larry Benna, who retired as deputy director of operations at the end of August.
Bisson will oversee BLM's daily operations, with a budget of more than $1.7 billion and more than 9,000 employees, BLM Director Kathleen Clarke said on Sept. 14.
Bisson has held management positions in California and Arizona during his more than 30 years in the federal government. From 1998 to 2002, he was BLM's assistant director for renewable resources and planning in Washington, DC, where he will be working in his new assignment, starting in November.
