HOUSTON, June 23
-- Infinity Energy Resources Inc., Overland Park, Kan., named Renato T. Bertani and Jeff Roberts to head a technical team to explore the company’s exploration acreage in the Caribbean off Nicaragua.

Bertani is president and chief executive officer of Thompson & Knight LLC’s global energy services subsidiary. He has more than 30 years of international exploration experience in Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia, Argentina, the US Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, and the UK. He was president of Petrobras America Inc. in 2001-06.

Roberts is a founding member of The Unconventionals, an exploration group focused on shale gas projects and other unconventional hydrocarbon opportunities. He has more than 29 years of oil and gas exploration experience, and during most of his career was involved in the evaluation of the exploration potential of numerous hydrocarbon basins for Amoco Production Co. and Oryx Energy Co.

Infinity’s Perlas and Tyra concession blocks, approved in March, cover 1.4 million acres in 100-300 ft of water. Onshore and offshore structures in Nicaragua have never been explored to the Cretaceous, source of major discoveries in other parts of the Caribbean, Infinity noted.
