Yavuz named TransAtlantic chief operating officer

TransAtlantic Petroleum Ltd., Dallas, has named Mustafa Yavuz as chief operating officer.

TransAtlantic Petroleum Ltd., Dallas, has named Mustafa Yavuz as chief operating officer.

Yavuz joined TransAtlantic in June 2011 in connection with the company’s acquisition of Thrace Basin Natural Gas (Turkiye) Corp. He joined TBNG in 1987 and was named its vice-president and chief operating officer in 2004.

Yavuz was a key contributor to TBNG’s growth and efficient operations, and the TransAtlantic board expects his leadership to provide a similar impact at TransAtlantic.

He has an established understanding of the geology and operational practices and procedures in Turkey and within TransAtlantic. A native of Turkey, he grew up in the southeastern part of the country and holds a BS in geological engineering from Ankara University.

Meanwhile, TransAtlantic’s board has accepted the resignation of Gary T. Mize as president and chief operating officer.
