-- Chinese authorities appointed CNOOC Chairman Fu Chengyu as the new chairman of China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec), and have named his successor at CNOOC as Wang Yilin, vice-president of China National Petroleum Corp.

As CNOOC chairman, Fu headed an effort to acquire Unocal Corp. for $18.5 billion but failed due to opposition from US lawmakers. Wang has more than 25 years of experience in China’s oil and gas industry.
