Sonatrach names new managing chairman

Mohammed Meziane, Algeria's OPEC governor, has been appointed as the new managing chairman of the Algerian state oil and gas company, Sonatrach, the OPEC News Agency reported.

HOUSTON, Sept. 19 -- Mohammed Meziane, Algeria's OPEC governor, has been appointed as the new managing chairman of the Algerian state oil and gas company, Sonatrach, the OPEC News Agency reported.

The Algerian Press Service said Meziane was to be officially installed in his new position on Saturday. He succeeded Djamel Eddine Khene.

Before his appointment, Meziane was the Hydrocarbons Department director at the Energy and Mines Ministry.
