Unocal elects new vice-chairman

HOUSTON, Dec. 9 -- Unocal Corp. has elected John W. Creighton Jr. to the position of vice chairman.

Creighton, who served as nonexecutive chairman during 2001, has had a seat on Unocal's board since 1995. He resigned as Unocal's chairman when he was appointed interim chairman of United Airlines's parent firm UAL Corp.

Creighton retired as president and CEO of Washington state-based forest product firm Weyerhaeuser Co.
