Brigham Exploration names CFO, promotes executives

Eugene B. Shepherd Jr. has been named chief financial officer of Brigham Exploration Co., Austin.

HOUSTON, June 19 -- Eugene B. Shepherd Jr. has been named chief financial officer of Brigham Exploration Co., Austin. Shepherd succeeds Curtis F. Harrell, who resigned from his position of 3 years as executive vice-president and chief financial officer.

Shepherd has 20 years of financial and operational experience in the energy industry. Most recently, he served as integrated energy managing director at ABN AMRO Bank NV, Amsterdam. Prior to that, Shepherd worked for 2 years as investment banking director for New York City-based Prudential Securities Inc. Before that, Shepherd spent 8 years as investment banking vice-president for Stephens Inc., Little Rock, Ark., and for 4 years with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, New York City. Preceding his tenure with Merrill Lynch, Shepherd worked for 4 years as a petroleum engineer with Amoco Production Co. and the Railroad Commission of Texas.

Separately, David Brigham has been promoted to executive vice-president, land and administration. Most recently, Brigham served as senior vice-president, land and administration. Also, Malcolm Brown has been promoted to vice-president in addition to his position of controller.
