Ensign Oil & Gas names Daigre, Taylor to top spots

Rene G. Daigre Jr. has been named president and CEO of Denver-based Ensign Oil & Gas Inc.

HOUSTON, Sept. 10 -- Rene G. Daigre Jr. has been named president and CEO of Denver-based Ensign Oil & Gas Inc.

Daigre joined Ensign in April 2000 and has served as executive vice-president and chief operating officer since January 2001. He has 25 years of industry experience, which includes holding positions of senior management with Ocean Energy, Inc., Houston, and numerous engineering and management positions with Unocal Corp. and Petro-Lewis Corp., Golden, Colo.

Daigre succeeds Jerry M. Staggs, who has held the position of CEO and president for the last 11 years.

Separately, Jake Taylor has been named chairman of Ensign. Taylor succeeds JC Mendel, who has served as chairman for 6 years and will continue to serve as a director on Ensign's board.
