Calpine considers sale of natural gas assets

Calpine Corp. is assessing the sale of all or some of its US natural gas assets.

HOUSTON, May 26 -- Calpine Corp. is assessing the sale of all or some of its US natural gas assets.

Calpine's gas properties cover 386,674 net developed and undeveloped acres, primarily in the Sacramento basin of California, South Texas, and the Gulf of Mexico, plus Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah.

Calpine produces 90 MMcfd of gas equivalent from 607 net wells. Its 2004 yearend net proved reserves were 389 bcf of gas equivalent.
