HOUSTON, July 20 -- Devon Energy Corp., Oklahoma City, has made two management appointments within its exploration and production organization.
William A. Van Wie has been appointed to the new position of vice-president and general manager, exploration. He will be responsible for coordinating Devon's global exploration activities. Previously Van Wie served as vice-president and general manager of the company's gulf division.
Tony D. Vaughn will succeed Van Wie as vice-president and general manager, gulf division. Vaughn will oversee Devon's E&P activities in the Gulf of Mexico. Previously he served as vice-president, planning and evaluation.
Van Wie joined Devon in 1999 following the company's acquisition of PennzEnergy Co., where he served as senior vice-president. He began his career with Tenneco Inc. and was also employed by Chevron Corp., Pennzoil, and Amerada Hess Corp.
Vaughn joined Devon in 1997 and has served in a variety of technical and management positions in the company's headquarters office. He began his oil and gas career with Amoco Production Co. as an operations engineer. He spent 12 years with Kerr-McGee Corp., the majority of which as a reservoir engineer and engineering manager focused on Gulf of Mexico operations.
