OKEA ASA let a contract to Aker Solutions for the offshore Norway Draugen electrification project for front-end engineering and design (FEED) work.

The project will involve major modifications of the existing platform to enable power from shore. Replacing the current gas turbine power generators will reduce emissions from Draugen by as much as 200,000 tons/year of CO2.

A letter of intent (LOI) was signed Dec. 15, 2022 (OGJ Online, Dec. 15, 2022).

Draugen is an oil field with associated gas in the southern part of the Norwegian sea in water depth of 250 m. Production began in 1993.

OKEA is operator of the field with 44.56% interest. Partners are Petoro AS (47.88%), and M Vest Energy AS (7.56%).
