The outcome of mediation set to end at midnight Feb. 15 between the union SAFE and Norwegian Oil and Gas Association could affect Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) fields.

A possible strike could reduce crude storage and harbor capacity at Equinor’s Mongstad refinery terminal, which could affect production at several Equinor-operated fields on the NCS, including Johan Sverdrup and Troll. A production shutdown until further notice may be necessary, the operator said.

Norwegian Union of Energy Workers (SAFE) did not accept the result of pay talks of a previous oil agreement, which largely applies to personnel at onshore plants. The settlement is now in mediation.

If mediation is unsuccessful, SAFE noted that 12 of their members at the Mongstad terminal could go on strike.

A possible strike could also impact gas exports from the Troll area, and could also impact Kvitebjørn, Visund, Byrding, Fram, and Valemon fields, Equinor said.
