Deltic Energy PLC confirmed formal award of six new licenses over 12 blocks under the UK’s 32nd licensing round.

Deltic Energy PLC confirmed formal award of six new licenses over 12 blocks under the UK’s 32nd licensing round (OGJ Online, Sept. 3, 2020).

Five awards lie in the southern North Sea gas basin. In P2567 the company was awarded 100% interest in Blocks 43/11 and 43/12, including the Cadence prospect. The areas lie north of the Spirit Energy-operated Pegasus and Andromeda discoveries.

The company gained 100% interest in P2560, P2561, P2562 covering an underexplored area south of Breagh gas field and its existing licence P2424, where the Cortez prospect is being progressed. The proven gas gas bearing area has been mapped with 2D and 3D seismic data of varying vintage and quality which will respond well to modern reprocessing, the company said. Multiple leads have been mapped in the Carboniferous with additional upside in the Zechstein and the Leman Sandstone in the southern-most blocks, it said.

As part of a joint award with Shell, Deltic was awarded 30% interest in P2558, Blocks, 41/5b and 42/1b, adjacent to their existing Pensacola license (P2252). The area has been largely imaged on the new Bluewater 3D survey shot by Deltic-Shell last year and contains a potential northern extension of the Pensacola prospect.

In the UK central sector, Deltic was awarded P2542, which contains two Jurassic Fulmar sandstone prospects.  Further work will be undertaken during the initial license period to mature the prospects.
