Neptune Energy safely removed L10-C, L10-D, and L10-G platforms from the Dutch sector of the North Sea. The platforms provided offshore natural gas to the Netherlands for around 40 years and ceased production in 2016.
More than 3,400 tons steel were removed as part of the decommissioning program carried out by Neptune Energy and Boskalis, using the Bokalift1 vessel which has a 3,000-ton crane and 6,300 sq m free deck space.
The steelwork was removed from the seabed and placed on the vessel in a series of lifting operations. Rock removal will return the seabed to a clean state and will mark completion of the operation.
All three platforms were brought onshore and associated materials will be recycled or reused as much as possible.
The L10 area comprises mature gas fields on the western side of the Dutch North Sea and continues to produce gas from platforms including Neptune-operated unmanned K12-C/CC, K12-D, K12-G, K12-K, L10-B, L10-E, L10-F, L10-L, and L10-M centered around the Neptune-operated L10-A platform 62.5 km from Den Helder.
