The Australian Government has let a contract to Zenith Energy Australia to act as lead contractor for phase 2 of the Northern Endeavour decommissioning program in the Timor Sea.
The contract appoints Zenith Energy to deliver phase 2, which centers on the permanent plugging and abandonment (P&A) of nine subsea wells within Laminaria-Corallina oil fields.
Zenith Energy will be responsible for delivering full project management and engineering services required to design, plan and, subject to Commonwealth approval, execute the P&A campaign. The contract scope includes detailed well engineering, development of execution plans, regulatory approvals and acceptances, storage and transportation of recovered infrastructure and materials, and field monitoring activities through to handover for phase 3 of the Northern Endeavour decommissioning program.
As one of the largest offshore decommissioning programs currently under way in Asia-Pacific, the Northern Endeavour decommissioning program is expected to establish important benchmarks for the planning, execution, and delivery of future offshore decommissioning projects in the region.
