Masar Petroleum SAOC discovered oil in Hasirah Ridge, Block 7, onshore Oman. The Omani company plans to quickly advance appraisal and development opportunities across the block.
The company drilled a new exploration well south of its existing discoveries, validating the concept of the Hasirah Ridge, a geological trend 5 km wide and 30 km long mapped across Block 7 using 2D seismic data.
The discovery represents the first step towards unlocking the Ridge's prospective resource base of 100-380 million bbl, the company said.
First oil from Hasirah Ridge is expected onstream in fourth-quarter 2026. Following this discovery, a planned 3D seismic survey and exploration and appraisal program is expected to advance the development of the new resources by year-end 2028.
Block 7 is spread across about 2,300 sq km and contains three producing fields: Sahmah, Ramlat, and Rija. Production started in Sahmah (1980). The block produces light quality oil with average gravity of 44° API which is sold as Oman Blend.
Masar Petroleum is operator and owns 100% of the block.
