ADNOC takes FID for SARB Deep Gas Development
ADNOC has taken final investment decision (FID) for the SARB Deep Gas Development, a project within the Ghasha concession offshore of Abu Dhabi.
The development, which is expected to deliver 200 MMcfd of gas before the end of the decade, requires advanced technologies to unlock gas found at depths greater than 4,500 m trapped in rock formations under high-pressure, high-temperature environments, the operator said in a release Jan. 7.
This project will be remotely operated from Arzanah Island, leveraging existing infrastructure, and will include advanced technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), ADNOC said.
The SARB Deep Gas Development project lies 120 km from shore and comprises a new offshore platform with four gas production wells which connect to Das Island, where gas will be tied into ADNOC Gas infrastructure for upstream treatment.
The Ghasha concession, which includes Hail and Ghasa, targets production of over 1.8 bcfd and 150,000 b/d of oil and condensates. The Ghasha concession projects are expected to capture 1.5 million tonnes/year of CO2, while producing low-carbon hydrogen that can replace fuel gas and further reduce emissions, the company said. The projects will also leverage clean power from nuclear and renewable sources from the grid.
