Woodside Petróleo Operaciones de México S. de RL de CV has let a casing and tubing contract to Tenaris for the Trion oil field development project off the Mexican coastline. Tenaris also will provide line pipe and coatings for bends, flowlines, and risers as part of the project’s subsea infrastructure.

Tenaris will supply 12,000 tons of casing and tubing and will deliver about 16,000 tons of pipe for flowlines and risers.

Trion development

Trion is a greenfield development that would represent the first oil production from Mexico’s deepwater. The field lies about 30 km south of the US-Mexico border and 180 km from the Mexican coastline in the Perdido Fold Belt, at a water depth of 2,600 m.

The field will be developed with 18 wells (nine producers, seven water injectors, and two gas injectors) drilled in the initial phase and a total of 24 wells drilled over the life of the project. The development is targeting 479 MMboe of best estimate (2C) contingent oil and gas

Woodside is operator at Trion (60%) with partner PEMEX Exploración y Producción (40%).
