State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and SLB signed an agreement aimed at accelerating redevelopment of Bahar and Gum Deniz oil and gas fields in the Caspian Sea.
The partnership aims to identify promising production zones of the mature assets, develop comprehensive reservoir modeling, and design well and drilling rig programs to support the Early Production Scheme at the fields, SOCAR said in an early October release.
Bahar gas condensate field lies about 25 km from the coast, 20 km south of Gum Island in 15-25 m of water. The field, being a brachy anticline fold tectonically extending meridionally, is 10 km long and 4.5 km wide covering an area of 56 sq km.
Gum (sand)-Deniz oil field lies 21 km southeast of Baku, in the land-sea transition zone in Baku Bay. The area of the field, which runs parallel to the southern coastline of the Caspian Sea, is 144 sq km. The depth of the sea varies 1-15 m in the boundaries of the fold, which is a southward extension of the Fatmayi-Kurdakhany-Surakhany-Zykh anticline zone.
The fields are operated by Bahar Energy Operating Co. through an agreement among SOCAR, Bahar Energy Ltd., and SOCAR Oil Affiliate.
