Turkish Petroleum lets EPCI contract for third phase of Sakarya gas field development
Turkish Petroleum Offshore Technology Center (TP-OTC) has let a contract to Subsea 7 SA for the third phase of Sakarya gas field in the Black Sea, offshore Türkiye.
The field lies within the Sakarya Gas Field Block C26 in the western Black Sea, about 170 km offshore from Filyos, Zonguldak, at a depth of about 2,200 m, within the Türkiye exclusive economic zone.
The work scope of the contract, valued by Subsea7 between $750 million and $1.25 billion, includes engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF).
TP-OTC plans to continue natural gas production in the Sakarya gas field by drilling about 44 additional wells and processing the extracted gas using a new floating production unit (FPU). The third phase aims to bring the total number of wells to around 67 across all planned phases, with a projected maximum raw gas production capacity of 46.5 million std cu m/day.
Project management and engineering will commence immediately and will be managed by the Subsea7 office in Istanbul, Türkiye, the company said in a release Aug. 27.
Subsea7 performed EPCI work for the second phase of the gas field development, having been awarded a previous contract in 2023.
