Petrobras discovers oil in Marlim Sul field
Petrobras discovered oil in a Marlim Sul field exploration in the Campos basin presalt 113 km off the coast of Campos dos Goytacazes-Rio Janeiro in 1,178 m of water.
Exploration well 3-BRSA-1397-RJS oil bearing interval was verified through electrical profiles, gas indications, and fluid sampling. Samples will later be sent for laboratory analysis which will allow the characterization of the conditions of the reservoirs and fluids found, enabling the continuity of the evaluation of the potential of the area.
Marlim Sul was discovered in November 1987 through well 4-RJS-382. The field comprises five oil wells, four water injection wells, and underwater pipelines that collect production and transport gas, besides the platform itself.
Petrobras is operator of the field with a 100% interest.
