Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd. (OGDCL) made what it calls a 'significant' oil and gas discovery in Nashpa block (3370-10), district Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Baragzai X-01 (Slant) spudded on Dec. 24, 2024, as an exploratory well and was drilled to a depth of 5,170 m into the Kingriali formation where a 90-m thick interval (Triassic age) was encountered. A successful cased hole drill stem test (DST) was carried out based on encouraging hydrocarbon shows and interpretation of open hole wireline logs.
The well flowed at a rate of 2,280 b/d of oil and 5.6 MMscfd of gas, through choke size 32/64-in. at 2,400 psi wellhead flowing pressure. The find represents the first oil and gas discovery from Kingriali formation in Nashpa block, the company said.
OGDCL is operator of the Nashpa Exploration License (65%) with joint venture partners Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. (30%) and Government Holdings (Private) Ltd. (5%).
