Khalda Petroleum Co. made a gas discovery in Egypt’s Western Desert, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said in a release Nov. 17.
Electric logs from exploratory well Gomana-1 indicated the presence of gas-bearing zones. Test results showed a production rate of about 36 MMscfd of gas. Testing and initial reserve evaluation are currently under way in preparation for bringing the well onto the production map, the ministry said.
Khalda Petroleum Co. is a joint venture company formed by Egyptian General Petroleum Corp. (EGPC) and Apache Corp.
