CNOOC makes ‘mid-to-large’ oil, gas discovery in Bohai Bay

China National Offshore Oil Corp. Ltd. reported what it is calling a “mid-to-large” oil and natural gas discovery in its Jinzhou 23-2 well in the Bohai Sea.

China National Offshore Oil Corp. Ltd. reported what it is calling a “mid-to-large” oil and natural gas discovery in its Jinzhou 23-2 well in the Bohai Sea.

The structure lies in the northern part of Liaodong Uplift in 10 m of water.

The well, which was drilled and completed, reached 1,097 m and found oil and gas pay zones with a total thickness of 68.4 m. On test, oil production reached 260 b/d.

CNOOC said the structure belt has “excellent reservoir quality.”
