Texas: Linc Energy spuds Barbers Hill field well

Linc Energy Ltd., Brisbane, has spudded a directional well in giant Barbers Hill oil field in Chambers County, Tex., first in a development program in US Gulf Coast fields acquired from ERG Resources on Oct. 11, 2011.

Proposed depth of the Fitzgerald Unit-1 well is 5,544 ft. The well targets oil in Miocene and Oligocene sand reservoirs at 3,300-5,500 ft. Barbers Hill, discovered in 1916, has produced more than 130 million bbl. Production peaked in 1931 at 8 million bbl/year.
