Partners in the Boomvang field in the Gulf of Mexico have awarded Aker Maritime Inc. a contract for a truss spar floating production system. The field on East Breaks 642, 643, 688, and 732 blocks is in 3,450 ft of water. The design incorporates a tubular truss system replacing the lower part of the cylindrical hull. Aker Maritime is responsible for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and delivery of the complete hull and moorings, and with J. Ray McDermott will also perform project management and the delivery of the riser systems. Delivery of the spar hull is scheduled for the fourth quarter 2001. Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corp. operates Boomvang with a 30% working interest. Enterprise Oil Inc. holds 50% and Ocean Energy Inc. holds 20%.

Ridgeway Petroleum Corp. said Tuesday it is preparing cost estimates for a 50-well helium drilling program on its St. Johns Anticline lease in eastern Arizona. Produced CO2 will be reinjected. Separately, Ridgeway and Petro Source Corp. dropped plans to consider building a CO2 pipeline from the field to heavy oil fields in California.

Bitech Petroleum Corp. has tested a new pay zone in the Visean Carbonate section of the Lekker field in the Komi Republic, Russian Federation. It flowed 900 b/d 36� oil from a 31-m intervaly. Bitech said the zone can be produced through the existing Lekker field infrastructure at minimal cost.

Venus Exploration Inc. said its second well in the Constitution Field, Jefferson County, Tex., has been completed in the Westbury Middle Yegua Sand at 14,229-14,289 ft. The well was producing 3.7 MMcfd of gas, 313 b/d of condensate, and 168 b/d of water though a 15/64-in. choke with flowing tubing pressure of 3,870 psi. Venus has signed a contract with Grey Wolf Drilling Co. to spud a third well on Oct. 13.

Daugherty Resources Inc. said that in the third quarter it drilled six development wells in its Fonde oil and gas field in Bell County, Ky. Daugherty owns 33% working interest in each.
