Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has discovered heavy oil accumulations at reservoir depths of 3,190 m and 3,521 m while drilling its Basilisco well in concession BM-C-35 of the Campos basin post-salt.

Well 1-RJS-737, also known as 1-BRSA-1289-RJS by Brazil’s National Petroleum Agency, was drilled in 2,214 m of water 143 km off Armacao dos Buzios on the Rio de Janeiro state coast.

The BM-C-35 consortium, which Petrobras operates with 65% interest alongside BP PLC with 35%, will assess the extension of the discoveries and the concession’s exploratory potential.
