Wildcat 33/2-2 S encountered oil over an interval of about 173 m in heterolithic sandstones with poor reservoir quality, NPD said. A formation test resulted in an oil flow rate of 68 cu m/day through a 24/64-in. choke.
Primary exploration targets were Upper and Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks in the Draupne formation and the Brent Group. Secondary targets were the Lower Jurassic Statfjord Group and the Triassic Lunde formation. NPD said the oil was found presumably in the Triassic Lunde.
The well was drilled by Bedford Dolphin Pte. Ltd.’s Bredford Dolphin Aker H-3 mobile offshore drilling unit to a vertical depth of 3,498 m subsea in 340 m of water. It was the first exploration well in PL579, which was awarded in Predefined Areas 2010.
The Bredford Dolphin MODU will drill wildcat 16/4-9 S in PL359 operated by Lundin (OGJ Online, Mar. 25, 2015).
