bp lets contracts for Kaskida semisubmersible tow

The contract, to SBM Offshore USA, calls for the wet tow and installation of a semi-submersible floating production unit for the deepwater US Gulf of Mexico development.

BP Exploration and Production Inc. has let a contract to SBM Offshore USA for the wet tow and installation of a semi-submersible floating production unit (FPU) for the Kaskida project in the deepwater US Gulf of Mexico.

Kaskida field is a greenfield Paleogene development about 250 miles southwest of New Orleans in the Keathley Canyon area. It is bp’s sixth hub in the US Gulf and will feature a new floating production platform with capacity to produce 80,000 b/d from six wells in the first phase of development (OGJ Online, July 31, 2024).

Start-up is expected in 2029 and is expected to produce peak annual production of about 85,000 boe/d. 

bp is operator of Kaskida (100%).
