Statoil ASA and partners have decided to develop the 2015 Snefrid Nord natural gas discovery near Aasta Hansteen field in the Norwegian Sea (OGJ Online Mar. 18, 2015).

The discovery is scheduled to come on stream in late 2019 and will be tied back to Aasta Hansteen.

Snefrid Nord is expected to produce about 4 million cu m/day in the plateau phase. Recoverable reserves are estimated at 5 billion cu m.

The development concept includes one well in a single-slot subsea template. Aker Solutions will deliver the template, a suction anchor, and umbilicals. Subsea 7 will deliver flowlines and spools and perform subsea installations.

Operator Statoil Petroleum ASA has 51%. Wintershall Norge AS has 24%, OMV Norge AS 15%, and ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS 10%.

Statoil has added a Snefrid Nord supplement to Aasta Hansteen’s plan for development and operation. Contracts are subject to approval of the supplement by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.
