LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12 -- Indonesia's state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina is planning to explore for oil under six production-sharing agreements in Ecuador this year, company officials said.

Last July, Indonesia and Ecuador agreed to collaborate in oil and natural gas work after Pertamina executives paid an earlier visit to the South American country.

At the time, Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda confirmed the agreement, saying the two countries had signed a memorandum of understanding concerning oil and gas, reflecting "the wish of the two governments to work closely to promote our pilot cooperation in the energy sector."
