HOUSTON, Oct. 24 -- Forest Oil Corp. has tested a second discovery well and an additional zone in its initial discovery well in the Monte Pallano area of central Italy. The second discovery well tested at 8 MMcfd of gas equivalent without fracture stimulation and with the flow rate limited by on-site test equipment.

"The initial discovery well has now tested at a total rate of 14 MMcfd of gas equivalent after the perforation of an additional zone," Forest said. "The combined test rate of the two wells is 22 MMcfd of gas equivalent without fracture stimulation."

Forest is seeking approval for pipelines and other facilities to bring both wells on production in first-half 2009, the company said in a release. Forest holds a 90% working interest in 8,000 net acres in the Monte Pallano area. The company is evaluating the acreage surrounding these wells to identify future drilling sites.

"Forest will evaluate all opportunities surrounding its Italian discovery at Monte Pallano and continue to move through the permitting approvals to bring this production on line into the Italian natural gas marketplace," said Forest Pres. and Chief Executive H. Craig Clark.
