Prince Edward Island well due frac, tests

HOUSTON, Sept. 7 -- Operators have decided to stimulate and test an exploratory well on eastern Canada's central Prince Edward Island that cut 70 m of net gas-bearing sand in the Bradelle formation of Carboniferous age.
The gas sands contain large amounts of clay in the pore structure that may reduce permeability, and it is uncertain whether gas can be flowed at commercial rates from the Green Gables-3 well near Cavendish, PEI, said Corridor Resources Inc., Halifax, NS.
The 70-m gas sand finding was determined using a 6% porosity cutoff. TD is 2,545 m.
The first two wells drilled on the Green Gables structure in 1972 and 1997 also encountered gas, Corridor noted.
A frac job is to be run in October on at least one reservoir sand in the No. 3 well, after which a flow test will be conducted. Corridor has 100% working interest.
Meanwhile, Corridor will move the rig next week to drill the New Harmony-1 exploratory well on eastern PEI. Projected total depth is 2,800 m. By drilling, Corridor is to earn a 50% interest in Permit 3/02 held by PetroWorth Resources Inc., Calgary.
