LONDON, Aug. 14 -- BP Angola (Block 18) BV has let a support services contract to Subsea 7 Inc. for the Greater Plutonio development on Block 18 off Angola. The $80 million contract is for a term of 3 years.

Subsea 7 and its subsidiary Sevenseas Angola will provide project management and engineering for maintenance, repair, and light construction work for the deepwater field. "The tie-ins of production flowlines and water injection lines to several Block 18 subsea wells are part of the work scope," Subsea 7 said.

Subsea 7 will provide two Hercules remote operated vehicles to work from BP's deepwater support vessel. BP Angola has an option to renew the contract for another 2 years.

Last year BP said it would install a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel with a storage capacity of 2 million bbl of oil and production capability of about 200,000 b/d (OGJ, Oct. 23, 2006, Newsletter). The 360,000-dwt FPSO, named after the fields, is 310 m long, 58 m wide, and 32 m high.

Production from Greater Plutonio is scheduled to start by yearend.
