HOUSTON, Mar. 9 -- An exploratory well in Quebec's St. Lawrence Lowlands flowed gas at rates as high as 4.5 MMcfd from the Ordovician Trenton-Black River formation, one of the participants said.

Operated by Talisman Energy Inc., which has earned a 75% interest, the Gentilly-1 wildcat went to TD 2,529 m before flowing the sweet gas (OGJ Online, Dec. 15, 2006).

Talisman is running four to six weeks of tests to determine whether the well is commercial, said Questerre Energy Corp., Calgary. Questerre and its minority partners hold 25% interest.
