Calvalley Petroleum Inc., Calgary, said drilling crews have returned to Yemen after a 2011 security evacuation and have spudded the Ras Nowmah-5 development well on Block 9 in the Masila basin.

Ras Nowmah-5 offsets the company’s 2010 Ras Nowmah-2 discovery well and will be followed by a second development location, Ras Nowmah-4.

On completion of the two development wells, Calvalley will drill several anomalies identified along the same plateau as Ras Nowmah.

Average gross production volumes for quarter ended June 30 are estimated at 3,000 b/d from Hisway field and 2,000 b/d from Ras Nowmah. Al Roidhat field, capable of 1,200-1,500 b/d, was shut-in during the quarter due to local issues.

Calvalley sold 252,525 bbl of crude oil in the quarter at an average $112.90/bbl. The quarter-end crude oil inventory is 17,000 bbl.
