LONDON, Feb. 15 -- Hess Corp. has let a $10 million contract to Electromagnetic Geoservices AS (EG), Trondheim, Norway, to use deep electromagnetic imaging to determine the hydrocarbon potential in its acreage off Ghana. Hess plans to drill a well on the Cape Three Points South Block.

EG was formed in 2002 to commercialize the electromagnetic imaging technique, which identifies resistive reservoirs by measuring the energy received at long source-receiver offset distances&151;greater than about three times the reservoir depth (OGJ, Nov. 7, 2005, p. 34).

Preacquisition work is under way. The scanning and delineation services contract will begin immediately, and EG will participate in processing and interpreting the data acquired.
