LONDON, Apr. 24 -- Endeavour International Corp. has spudded the Galtvort exploration well on Norwegian Production License 348 in the Norwegian North Sea to kick-start its aggressive drilling program this year.
The company will participate in at least seven exploration and appraisal wells and one development well, all spudding before the end of 2008. Endeavour is operator of three of the blocks to be drilled.
Endeavour will operate the Jade exploration well near the two Agat gas discoveries on Block 35/3 in the Norwegian North Sea. It holds a 65% interest in Jade.
"Other operated wells include the Noatun C, a prospect in Block 6407/7 north of Njord field, and the Brage North, an exploration target in Block 31/4 in Brage field," Endeavour said. The company has a 2.5% and 4.44% interest respectively in the blocks.
With a 25% interest in Block 22/24c, Endeavour will test hydrocarbons in Tesla exploration well in the same waters.
An appraisal well will further examine the Cygnus discovery on Block 44/12a, in which Endeavour owns a 12.5% interest, in the southern North Sea.
"Another appraisal well is planned on the Rochelle discovery on Block 15/27—one of the two blocks that Endeavour operates where all of the fields and discoveries begin with the letter R," the company said. It has a 55.6% working interest in the Rochelle discovery.
Endeavour also plans to drill and operate a development well on one of the two R blocks during the fourth quarter.
"The company has more planned drilling activity for the remainder of 2008 and into 2009 than at any other time in its history," said William L. Transier, chairman, president, and chief executive officer.
