LONDON, Oct. 24 -- OMV AG has tested a cumulative 9,700 boe/d of gas and condensate from several layers in the Sourour-1 exploration well on southern Tunisia's Jenein Sud exploration permit.

The well reached 4,013 m TD and struck a total of 20 m net gas and condensate pay at depths of 3,700-3,950 m. Sourour-1 produced 1,200 b/d of condensate and 58 MMcfd of gas.

OMV and its partner, the Tunisian national oil company ETAP, plan to drill other wells on the block, which has yielded four discoveries within the last 2 years. They are shooting a 3D seismic survey covering 600 sq km, and this will be finished by yearend.

The Ahlem-2 appraisal well will be drilled on the block next January.

OMV and ETAP each hold a 50% stake in the permit, which covers 1,992 sq km, about 700 km south of the Tunisian capital Tunis.
