Congo (Brazzaville): SOCO spuds exploratory well

SOCO International PLC has spudded the Makouala Marine-1 exploratory well on the Marine XIV block off Congo (Brazzaville).

SOCO International PLC has spudded the Makouala Marine-1 exploratory well on the Marine XIV block off Congo (Brazzaville).

The target is a postsalt Sendji formation reservoir in a four-way dip closed structure. The ENSCO 5003 semisubmersible is to drill the well to 2,700 m below mean sea level.

Block interests are SOCO Exploration & Production Congo SA 29.4%, Lundin Petroleum AB and Raffia Oil each 21.55%, Soc. Nationale Petroles du Congo 15%, and PA Resources AB 12.5%. PA Resources costs are carried by the other license partners.
