HOUSTON, Dec. 4 -- Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Houston, has awarded a letter of intent for a Gulf of Mexico deepwater production hub platform and associated facilities to a joint venture of El Paso Energy Partners LP and Cal Dive International Inc.

The JV would construct, install, and own the platform, at Anadarko's Marco Polo field on Green Canyon 608. The hub, with capacity to process 100,000 b/d of oil and 250 MMcfd of gas, would be installed in 4,300 ft of water.

The companies will allocate 50,000 b/d of oil capacity and 150 MMcfd of gas capacity for Marco Polo field and will market the remaining capacity for other area discoveries.

El Paso Energy Partners and Cal Dive expect the facilities will be completed and on line in 2004.

"This venture and the services it provides to Anadarko are another important step in El Paso Energy Partners' strategy to provide infrastructure for producers developing fields in the deepwater trend," said Robert Phillips, CEO of El Paso Energy Partners. "We built the Prince tension leg platform to provide these services to our affiliate, El Paso Production Co. We see tremendous growth opportunities in providing these services to both independent producers and major oil companies."
