Apache Corp., Houston, said Tuesday a preliminary open-hole test of its Tuchola 108-2 wildcat on the Pomeranian Concession in northwest Poland flowed 9.5 MMcfd of gas, the limit of the surface equipment.
The hole is Apache's first well on the concession. The gas was from the secondary objective, a 200-ft gross interval in the Permian Main Dolomite at 8,318-8,514 ft. It was tested on a 26/64-in. choke with a flowing tubing pressure of 2,380 psi. Drilling will continue toward the primary objective, the Devonian sand.
Apache is operator with a 42.5%. FX Energy has 52.5% and Polish Oil and Gas Co. has 15%.
Tuchola 108-2 is 60 miles from the nearest production, but only 3 miles from a gas pipeline. The last discovery in the Pomeranian area was in the mid-1980s.
John Crum, Apache's executive vice president for Eurasia, said, "If the discovery proves commercial, we have several similar leads to explore that have been identified on trend in the area.''
