MELBOURNE, Oct. 4 -- Roc Oil Ltd., Sydney, operator of the Cliff Head oil field development off Perth basin in Western Australia, has flagged a possible addition of $13 million (Aus.) to its project development budget of $227 million to recover an extra 1 million bbl of oil.
The company said the additional oil is not currently included in the field's proved and probable reserves, and it will expand the scope of the project only if it makes economic sense to do so.
Roc gave no details of the proposal, but it is likely to include further appraisal drilling when Ensco Inc.'s Ensco 67 jack up moves onto the Cliff Head location in November.
The rig is currently scheduled for a 6-month program, which will include wildcat wells on the Thornhill and Franklin prospects lying, respectively, 3 km and 25 km from Cliff Head and the Flying Foam prospect, 230 km to the north.
Cliff Head is to come on stream in 2006 with a flow of 4,000 b/d of oil.
