Maxus Energy Corp., Dallas, is pressing its international exploration campaign.

Its latest moves are into Paraguay and Madagascar.

In Paraguay, Maxus acquired a 1 year exploration permit on about 6.8 million acres in the Pirity basin. It has the option to sign a longer term exploration license after a technical evaluation of the area.

A risk-service contract with Madagascar's L'Office Militaire National Pour Les Industries Strateguiques covers 3.88 million acres off the northwest coast of the island. It specifies an exploration period of 8 years for geophysical surveys and wildcat drilling on the Nosy Be block.

Maxus earlier this year acquired acreage in Czechoslovakia and Bulgaria.
