Equinor has gained approval from the Argentine government for a 3D seismic acquisition project to be carried out in the Austral basin.

Equinor has gained approval from the Argentine government for a 3D seismic acquisition project to be carried out in the Austral basin.

The operator aims to confirm the presence of hydrocarbons in the seabed using ultrasound and 3D imaging covering Austral basin (AUS) areas AUS 105 (2,130 sq km) and 106 (2,160 sq km), and in West Malvinas basin (MLO) covering block MLO 121 (4,284 sq km), in the Argentine Sea.

Equinor must comply with terms of an environmental management plan and its extensions, which are part of an environmental impact assessment.
