Wintershall Dea lets subsea contract for Dvalin North
Wintershall Dea has let a subsea production system contract to Aker Solutions for Dvalin North field development in the Norwegian Sea.
The development will be a subsea tie-back to Equinor Energy-operated Heidrun platform. Aker Solutions will deliver a subsea production system including three horizontal subsea trees and control systems, a four-slot steel subsea template with an integrated manifold system, three wellhead systems, and associated tie-in and installation work. The scope also covers 10 km of static subsea umbilicals.
The project starts immediately with final deliveries planned for end-2025.
On Dec. 13, Wintershall submitted to the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy a plan for development and operation (PDO) for the field (OGJ Online Dec. 13, 2022).
Dvalin North field lies 200 km off the coast of Northern Norway, west of Sandnessjøen, at a water depth of 420 m. It is the largest discovery in Norway in 2021 with an estimated 84 MMboe. Gas will be exported via the Polarled pipeline to Nyhamna near Kristiansund in Norway. Startup is expected late 2026.
Wintershall Dea is operator of the field with a 55% share. Petoro holds 35% interest and Sval Energi has 10%.
